Family childcare with a trained godparent

A godparent will be able offer everyday support to your family

  • regularly
  • for a long-term period
  • independently
  • reliably
  • in consultation

including the following:

  • playing with a baby at home while parents perform other household chores
  • looking after a baby at home for a set period of time while parents are out, under the condition that the godparent has known the family for some time
  • taking a baby for a walk in the pram
  • playing with a toddler while parents perform other household chores
  • looking after a toddler at home for a set period of time while parents are out, under the condition that the godparent has known the family for some time
  • taking a toddler for a walk
  • reading to a child
  • feeding or eating with a child
  • changing a baby’s nappy or accompanying a child to the toilet
  • taking a child to the day care centre / to the childminder and picking it up from there
  • putting a child to bed

Requirements for being granted a family godparent:

  • you have at least one child between 0 and 3 years old
  • you require everyday assistance with your newborn baby
  • you are ill and support from your own family is not possible
  • you applied for domestic support but this was not approved by your health insurance
  • everyday life is just too much for your young family at the moment, and support from extended family is not possible

Costs

An allowance of €7 per hour is to be paid to your allocated godparent. If you are in possession of an Oberursel Pass, the city council will cover these costs.
